Radisson Edwardian Hotel Description
Though a strikingly modern property, the Radisson Edwardian Hotel is built on the site of the former Free Trade Hall and retains that building’s 19th century Italianate facade. The free trade hall was once the home of the Halle Orchestra and this legacy is apparent in the statues of former performers that adorn the stunning lobby atrium and the artefacts that are displayed throughout. In the 263 luxurious guestrooms, floor to ceiling windows provide excellent views of the city, while a cosy yet sophisticated atmosphere is created by the crushed velvet throws, leather headboards, bespoke furniture and Bang & Olufsen televisions. All the rooms are king-sized and are impeccably maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms clad in Scandinavian slate. From the day it opened, the hotel’s Opus One has been one of Manchester's liveliest and popular restaurants. Under the direction of head chef David Sharp, it serves innovative modern British food that blends the best of local produce, presented in a modern, contemporary way. The dining experience is complemented by the dramatice décor, which combines soaring ceilings, velvet red walls, high gloss black woodwork, antique gold wall coverings and crocodile skin furniture. Alternatively, with a new terrace for al fresco dining, the Alto Restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy some summer specialities with a glass of Sauvingnon Blanc or Rosé.

Fantastic location, and nice interior, with friendly staff, but overpriced for what you get. The door handles on the wardrobes were of hard metal with sqaure sharp edges which were a contstant hazard, and the safe did not work. The electronic lock failed as were checking out, which caused about 30 mins delay, which was Ok as we were not due to leave until the eveing but if we'd had a plane or a train to catch it might have been more of a nuisance. The restaurant in the hotel (Opus One) is excellent - but you can use it as a non-resident ....
